anitAFRIKA e-newsletter
edition 01_2009
dear village
ase and welcome to our anitAFRIKA! dub theatre newsletter for january 2009.
ase elegua. ase ancestors. ase madre yemoja. ase orishas. ase spirit guides. ase villagers. this is our continuation. our ending. our new beginning.
the first term of our first season was a beautiful beginning - from our humble prelaunch party in july, to our extensive storytellers' conference: the storytellers integrity in august to workshops, classes, gatherings, culminating in the mikey smith raw works festival in december - none of this was possible without you, the people. for your support, suggestions, presence and love, we here at anitAFRIKA! dub theatre say ase. thank you.
now we are onto our second term filled with promise. I will be facilitating two 12 wk workshops at the theatre - one is a continuation of our dubtheatre intensive and the other (which I am truly excited about) is a course for women survivors of childhood sexual trauma. as an incest survivor myself, I would like to co-create a space where, as womben, we can collectively heal and grow. so if this workshop speaks to you, please do join us.
