some great news to share this month in the first week of november, we are re-launching our biweekly tuesday nite dub sessions with our amazing house band rakesh tewari and ian de souza. you can also see me performing at inna de wardrobe, a new play by deidre walton, playing until thursday nov 9! also remember, our courses continue with new weekly writing classes beginning nov 22! give us a call at 416.434.1823 or send us an email at village@anitafrika.com to discuss your interests and ideas!
remember to check the calendar for regular events like our pwyc yoga class (wed 5pm) and regular no cost events, including moyo wa africa (nov 9 & 23) and the prison letter writing series (nov 16).
remember our adt! space sharing form is now downloadable so please fill it out with all your great programming ideas for the 2nd term (jan-april) of the 2008-2009 season and we will endeavor to program you in.

-two new weekly courses (nov 22-dec 20) at anitAFRIKA! dub theatre facilitated by d'bi.young
womban, goddess, herstory and magic (5wks) 3-5pm:
this course explores the rich legacy of worldwide magickal goddess traditions and our role as storytellers in uncovering them, with a particular focus on the afrikan continent.
writing myth (5wks) 6-8pm:
this course explores mythology and the process of present-day myth creation using older myths as model, particularly those from the afrikan continent.

speshal guest from jamaica appearing at tonite's dub session. original dub poet and musician extraodinaire. don't miss mbala! Mbala is a jamaican poet, musician and visual artist. he brings to the stage performance/dub poetry in which words are placed in a musical landscape of drums saucepans, car parts, berimbau, saxophone and flute in jazz, reggae, and traditional rhythms.

the urban youth festival is a family and community event with reading and writing enhancing workshops, prizes and recognition awards to youth in the areas of creative writing, cultural diversity, oratory skills (dub poetry slam competition) and ability, and community connection.
